A few weeks ago I was going through my ever-expanding DVD/Blue-Ray collection and I came across my old Aqua Teen Hunger Force season 1 DVDs. Nothing quite captures the human situation like a team of detectives comprised of a talking box of french fries, a meatball and one sarcastic son-of-a-bitch of a milk shake. We can all really  learn a lot from this show.  Need less to say, I was inspired to produce these images in my humble attempt to make the world a better place. Some love to see the look of wonder in a child’s eye, some like to recreate awesome cartoons and take pictures of it. Styling by Robin Finlay.

I cannot really hide my enthusiasm for mountain biking. It has become a part of my weekly routine. I sit up at night wondering if my mountain bike is happy hanging from the hooks in my closet. Did I clean it properly enough? Is it contented? This obsession came to a head last week when I brought my mountain bike into the studio to mess around for a bit. This are a couple of the shots that I produced. I basically used two 3200 white lightnings and about 12 fill cards and flags(see production shot at bottom). It was a great way to kill some free time in the studio and also a great way to show my bike that I really do care.

So, I really love collectible toys, specifically Dunnys. If you don’t know what Dunnys are…here’s a link to some knowledge. I have a few of them (a lot). The cool thing about dunnys is that every artist that designs one has a different take. This is one of my favorites from the Ye Olde English Series and was designed by Mimic. There’s a limited edition red one that I really want. I shot this with a Hasselblad 501cm with a p45 back. I lit it with two 1600 white lightning monos and 3×3 scrims.

Hello everyone! Welcome to my brand-spanking-new blog! This blog is linked to my website seanjohnsonstudio.com and will serve as a medium to display new work before it makes its way to my portfolio. It will also serve as a way to illustrate my creative processes as well as the processes of the people I admire. I’ll leave you with an image that is an oldie but a goodie. This is what happens when you give a nerdy photographer some down time and toys.
